"The Whitcomb Metallic Bedstead Company was on the canal opposite Wharf Street.  No longer standing, it turned out 1500 brass and iron beds weekly.  The brass tubing for the bedsteads was cast nearby in the Birmingham Brass Company plant."

In the News...

Information from The Shelton Weekly Advance, Saturday July 15, 1893.  "Thoughts on Things Around Home". On microfilm.

"The Whitcomb Metallic Bedstead company is to resume work on Monday, 24th inst.  It is in order now for some of our Republican papers that have recently been attributing the shutting down of the shops and bad times generally to the change of national administration, to explain why business is again reviving.  Mostly any explanation will do.  The people are not given much to analyzation."
