Available at each library location and online.  More than just websites, these links connect you to online versions of newspaper, magazine, journal and book articles (for free!) To explore the online world beyond Google, have your library barcode number ready to use as a password.

Local history collection

The Plumb Memorial Library houses a collection of books related to Shelton and Connecticut history.  Other resources include Shelton High School yearbooks, newspapers on microfilm, a Shelton newspaper clippings file, and more.

 

Newspapers-Historic

The following newspapers covering Shelton from November, 1950-present are available at the Plumb Memorial Library:

  • Evening Sentinel* November 1950-December 1965 (bound copies)

  • Evening Sentinel January 1966-December 1992 (microfilm)

  • Suburban News/October 1963-July 1985 (microfilm & bound copies)

  • Huntington Herald 1981-present (microfilm) (1981-2006 PDF)

*The Evening Sentinel issues from 1896-1992 are available on microfilm at the Seymour Public Library.

 

Historic Periodicals Collection

These magazines are available at the Plumb Memorial Library.  They do not circulate;  photocopies are available for .10 per page.

 

Cemetery Lists

Lists for Coram, East Village, Long Hill, Lower White Hills, and White Hills cemeteries have been transcribed and posted here.
